*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TO KULT MEMBERS ***

An unknown individual has been impersonating as a KULT member at a regional chancery. The diplomat of said chancery has perished, apparently at the hands of the impostor. It is suspected that his murder and the events surrounding his death, were meant to bring attention to KULT as a whole.

At the time of this report, the cleanup division is still working to intercept, and if need be, replace officials to keep the entire incident under wraps. The contents of the chancery are being archived, then moved to the research division. Mundane replacements are being swiftly manufactured. A cheilith scan of the interior of the apartment, and exterior of the building has been completed. It is hoped that the cleanup division can complete their work within the hour. An “anonymous tip” will then notify authorities of the tragedies inside.

The identity of the diplomat is Bastion Plantier; recently appointed to the position by his government, apparently as a favor for being a big donor to country campaigns — despite his inexperience. According to the visitors logs, not much activity happened in the first two years of his appointment. However, the last eighteen months has seen a lot of visitors; many of them repeating their meetings. Due to the nature of diplomatic meetings, no logs about the substance of the discussions exist. The kitchen seems to have been turned into a make-shift alchemical lab; and autopsy room. The diplomat was found strangled on the floor behind his desk, while wearing a rather well-made counterfeit KULT mask.

The identity of the unknown individual remains an ongoing mystery. KULT will not allow impostors to bring attention to our organization, let alone live after the fact. However, the impostor must be using other artifacts to obscure their location and identity, as the standard issue artifacts used in the first moments of this investigation did not provide any leads. We’ve not needed to flip back the pages yet, but it is anticipated that at some point the monitors will have to tap into the volunteers as part of a followup investigation.

The first artifact recovered from the scene is a numbers station radio. Diplomats frequently use these to receive coded messages from their homelands. This radio however, seems to be infused with several memories of Bastion Plantier, including his final moments. It has not been transcribed or archived yet, and it is your duty to learn the whole story.

The radio seems to have an unknown power source. The activation of what can only be described as a haunt, seems to be rather simple. While the radio is on, press in on the middle tuning knob, then a button under the label on the back of the radio, then press in on the left volume knob, and finally press in on the right fine-tuning knob. Stand back.

Residual energies seem to cause the radio to float and emit light, while apparent recordings of a conversation are broadcast through the speaker — as if to expose the events that transpired. Though, it seems the radio becomes exhausted after a few minutes of broadcasting, and it returns to its original functions. Repeated activations of the haunt, relay more of the story after a short rest.

Of note, there are several references to a substance called Ghostium, which appears to be a derivative of opium. Not much is known about this substance, but archiving of the scene has interesting opium pipes and substances. Further investigation is required.
